Disneyland Resort's 60th Diamond Celebration
The Diamond Celebration
Well friends, it's officially been announced!
The Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration will debut on May 22, 2015 at both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park! While the actual anniversary date is July 17th, Disneyland Resort will get to celebrating a few months early, which is great for us!
For years, Disney has been a huge part of our family's life, just like it has for so many of your lives. It's exciting to be around for another awesome year of celebrating! I remember being in Girl Scouts and celebrating the 35th anniversary and then each milestone after that! Who remembers the confetti being thrown out from the parade floats that year? I'm pretty sure I saved mine... somewhere. I can't wait to share this experience with my family and continue the tradition of celebrating at our favorite place.
The first thing you might notice will be the celebration decor throughout! And you can't miss Sleeping Beauty Castle as she is showing all of her glory via a new makeover just for the occasion.
There will be two amazing new nighttime shows for your viewing pleasure. Can we say glitter and sparkle?!
In the evening, expect to see the sky AND the entire Resort lit up in celebration! I LOVE the parades, and with my family am often found along Main Street U.S.A., as they ride attractions, I am lounging with a Mint Julep. I also am more than happy to find a spot and save it for the family to watch the evening fireworks above Sleeping Beauty Castle!
- “Paint the Night” parade – New technology and unleashed imagination permeate this after-dark parade, flooding Main Street, U.S.A., in Disneyland with vibrant color and more than 1.5 million, brilliant LED lights that flash and glow as they bring Disney stories to life. The luminescent parade introduces a new era of magical entertainment, as Mickey Mouse uses his imagination to harness the power of Tinker Bell’s pixie dust and “Paint the Night” in dazzling Disney dreams. Those dreams include special appearances by Mickey’s pals and beloved characters from tales such as “Monsters, Inc.,” “Cars,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Toy Story” and “Frozen.” The parade features special effects, unforgettable music, energetic performances, fun surprises and spectacular floats, with Mickey leading the grand finale. - “Disneyland Forever” fireworks spectacular – The Disneyland Resort tradition of creating big, dazzling fireworks shows will soar to new levels as “Disneyland Forever” immerses guests in stories from the tips of their toes to the sky high above. Thanks to the largest installation of projection mapping technology in a Disney park and surprising special effects, guests will find themselves transported into the worlds of beloved Disney and Disney●Pixar films, including a dance with King Louie from the “The Jungle Book” and a flight over London with characters from “Peter Pan.” Showing just how magical the Magic Kingdom can be, the fireworks “stage” will extend to Main Street, U.S.A., “it’s a small world,” Rivers of America and the Matterhorn as projections transform familiar park icons into stunning story scenes. Two original songs also will be featured, the theme “Live the Magic,” and the inspiring closing song “Kiss Goodnight,” written by Disney Legend Richard Sherman. “Disneyland Forever” will be visible from Main Street, U.S.A., and several Disneyland locations. Disney California Adventure Park
We can't forget about Disney California Adventure Park's Carthay Circle Theater. The gorgeous building will be sparkling from top to bottom, lighting up the marquee board above the entrance. I love Buena Vista Street and am really looking forward to seeing everything with my own eyes! Clear out your memory cards and get your cameras ready!
If you're a fan of the "World of Color" nighttime show, get ready for some new evening magic! We've loved the original and the updated versions and can't wait to see what they have in store for the Diamond Celebration!
- “World of Color – Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney” – Mickey Mouse will entertain guests as mischievous host of this fun-filled new presentation of the popular, nighttime “World of Color” spectacular in Disney California Adventure. Illuminating the night in a contemporary and moving celebration of Walt Disney and his dream of Disneyland, Mickey Mouse will take guests on an inspirational journey through the unparalleled imagination of Walt Disney, exploring his decades-long legacy of memorable animated moments and the dream of Disneyland Park. Both epic and intimate in scope, “World of Color – Celebrate!” brings to life the remarkable story of Walt and The Happiest Place on Earth with animated imagery, live-action film, fountains, lasers, special effects and a stirring musical score, all on the magical water canvas of “World of Color.” (Disneyland Resort PR)
With any big celebration, you can expect to see countless attractions under scheduled refurbishment or remodel for the big debut. Currently, Critter Country at Disneyland Park and Sleeping Beauty Castle, along with many Fantasyland attractions, are undergoing huge makeovers. At Disney California Adventure Park, Condor Flats will be getting an update, along with a favorite of our family's, Soarin' Over California. If you plan on attending prior to May 22nd, just check out the Disneyland Resort website so you know what will be open!
