Ladies and Gentlemen, Children of All Ages...
We had an exciting experience last night under the big top! The fun started at 6 pm, an hour before the show, with an all-access pre-show right on the arena floor. It was great seeing all of the kids and families having fun, interacting with the clowns, animals, and the entertainers that make up this sensational circus! The kids danced, took pictures, and were mesmerized by the experience of being up close with everyone.
Even I jumped in on the fun and got a picture with two of the entertainers! Their costumes scream pizzaz and fun! Seriously, I might need to create a bedazzled circus costume for Halloween!
One of the cool things that we went home with, were cute little red clown noses. My boys were pretty excited about that, they were able to join in the silly antics that our clown friends were a part of!
As the pre-show ended, we were welcomed by Ringmaster Johnathan Lee Iverson, a phenomenal voice and personality, and he is also the first African-American Ringmaster for legendary Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey. We sang the National Anthem as a beautiful Asian Elephant and its star-spangled rider walked the arena floor. Shortly after, the introduction song and images on the drop down screens showcased various acts throughout the history of "The Greatest Show on Earth."
So what can you expect if you attend this spectacular event? Prepare yourself for a night of fun, laughter, and awestruck moments. While the show is great for kids of all ages, you must understand that there are moments of darkness, smoke effects, loud noises, and flashes of light! The show lasted approximately 2 hours, sans the pre-show, and had an intermission for about 20 minutes. This gave us ample time for a restroom break and grabbing some cotton candy!
Going to the circus makes you feel like a kid again. Seeing people do incredible things so high up in the air, attempting daring jumps through hoops, and being encircled by large cats and elephants is absolutely amazing. Not to mention the lights, fire elements, and fast-paced action! Thematically, the show takes you through a journey of legendary proportions, you step into a dream world, allowing you to see a Pegasus, Woolly Mammoth, and even a Unicorn!
