Magic Kids Talk: Favorite Disney Attractions

Welcome to the next stop on Magical Blogorail Orange. Today we are discussing favorite Disney attractions at Disneyland Resort with our kids. In fact, I'm excited to get a "Magic Kids Talk" series started, and what better time than now, with my Blogorail family!

So, when I asked my little sparks of magic to narrow down their list to just one each, these are their answers.

While our favorite ride as a family is Splash Mountain in Critter Country at Disneyland Park, and one that we count as a tradition with every trip, having a lot of personalities means we do our best to accommodate all of the kiddos.

When it comes to our family's happy place, there are obviously many viewpoints on which Disney attraction is the BEST since there are so many!

California Screamin'

Height: 48" or taller
FASTPASS, Single Rider & Rider Switch

My three girls all chose Disney California Adventure Park's California Screamin' as their favorite attraction. They all grew up riding roller coasters and love a thrill. Maybe it was all the spinning they did in their Granddad's favorite reading chair, I'm not sure... Well, If you didn't know already, California Screamin' (now the Incredicoaster) is the first attraction at Disneyland Resort featuring an inverted loop! THAT is what my girls love the most, going upside down! I have to say that I definitely agree. This ride is one of my favorites, too!

California Screamin’ is my favorite because you SCREAM and it’s in the title. I love the fact that we get to go upside down and get a view of [Disney] California Adventure, and go fast on a wild and fun roller coaster.

- KeiLana, 10

KeiLana is so right, you get to see all of the fun on Paradise Pier as you zoom across the steel coaster that spans almost 1-1/8 miles! My other daughters, MeiLani (14) and KaiLeia (12), are always up for adventure and standing in line to make sure they get to ride AT LEAST once. They'd stay on all day if the cast members let them!

KaiLeia definitely loves this ride. When she was younger after riding it the first time, when asked what she wanted to be when she grew up, she replied, "I want to push the button for California Screamin'!"

My favorite ride is California Screaming’ because you go extremely fast. You go up... down, through tunnels, AND upside down! I love this ride because it thrills me, and it really makes me not be afraid of going upside down. I think you should try this ride because you will feel really amazing after your ride it.

- KaiLeia, 12

Star Tours – The Adventure Continues

Height: 40" or taller
FASTPASS; Approximately 5 minutes on board (after wait line)

While my girls agreed on the same attraction, naturally my boys had two different favorites. My eldest, Kai, is a huge Star Wars fan, so his ride can be found at Tomorrowland in Disneyland Park. Since Star Tours  – The Adventure Continues was updated in 2011 to include an all new Dolby 3-D simulation, and allowing guests to experience 50 different combinations, my son has seriously attempted to experience as many as possible in one trip! That's a lot of Star Wars. I think so far he's only made it on 6 times in one trip, but he's pretty eager to try it as long as his Daddy will can it, haha! I was so tickled when he gave me his quote because he did the sound effects and impression of poor Chewbacca getting hit. I don't think I ever noticed that before!

FUN FACT: Star Tours –The Adventures Continue features characters and settings from both the original trilogy of Star Wars films and their newer prequels.

My favorite ride is Star Tours. I like it because of the graphics. My favorite part is when you hit Chewbacca

Matterhorn Bobsleds

Height: 42" or taller

Our final attraction is the Matterhorn Bobsleds, also in Tomorrowland at Disneyland Park. I've got to say that I was surprised that my youngest chose this ride. I was sure he would pick Tower of Terror, simply because he worked up a good fuss about riding (serious dramatics) and then LOVED it! But, he wrote a nice paragraph on Matterhorn Bobsleds, so I am excited to share that with you! This fast sledding ride was the first tubular steel roller coaster in the world!

FUN FACT: Did you know that Matterhorn Mountain is a real mountain in Switzerland? In fact, Walt Disney swooned over the original mountain while filming a movie in 1959. He had the magical mountain created to a tenth of the size, at 147 feet tall. Matterhorn Mountain is not replicated at any other Disney Park and it recently was given more snow and glass beads to reflect off the light, giving a more realistic touch.

My favorite ride is Matterhorn. It is my favorite ride because it is short and fast. The monster is big in the ride but before it shows the monster it becomes dark, so you can’t see him... and his eyes light up. I close my eyes when it comes to that part. I am scared of him because he scares me and he screams.

- Malakai, 8

The really wonderful thing about the Disneyland Resort is that with 84 attractions there really is something for everyone. We love being together and experiencing the magic in new ways. We are able to enter so many different lands, our kids get to be themselves and have fun in a place that submerges them into imagination mode. I feel it's so important to allow them that time to just be kids and have fun. I also think it's great for Mommy & Daddy, too.

Disneyland is our special spot, and I love that our kids get to enjoy it together while they are young!
