DDA Welcomes Halle Bailey as the 2023 Celebrity Ambassador!

Wow! Disney Dreamers started off with a bang on Day 1 with the announcement of its 2023 Celebrity Ambassador. After their entrance to the opening celebration, the Dreamers got settled in their seats, but didn't stay there for long, because the they were on their feet with screams and cheers as they found out who their celebrity ambassador would be!

We were all thrilled when Ms. Kelly Rowland virtually introduced her successor for the ambassadorship, five-time Grammy-nominated singer, Halle Bailey. If you don't already know, Bailey was cast as Ariel in the upcoming live-action version of Disney's "The Little Mermaid," releasing May 26 in a theater near you. :)

Along with several Hollywood stars, including H.E.R., Marsai Martin, Jalyn Hall, Dominique Thorne, and Priah Ferguson, Halle will be mentoring and speaking to the Dreamers over the course of the week, and I know it is going to be an amazing experience for everyone involved!

“If it wasn’t for my mentors, I wouldn’t be where I am today,” Bailey said. “I’m excited to work with these students and be a mentor for them as they find their passions in life.”

Halle, along with her sister, Chloe, attended DDA in the past as celebrity mentors, so having her return as the celebrity ambassador to share her insights at this stage in her career is an awesome full circle moment in my mind. She will grace the DDA cavalcade as Grand Marshall at Magic Kingdom, and we are excited to have the opportunity to speak with her!

About The Little Mermaid live-action film:

“The Little Mermaid,” visionary filmmaker Rob Marshall’s live-action reimagining of the studio’s Oscar®-winning animated musical classic, opens exclusively in theaters nationwide May 26, 2023. “The Little Mermaid” is the beloved story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. The youngest of King Triton’s daughters and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea and, while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land but ultimately places her life – and her father’s crown – in jeopardy.
